Pugs. They're designed to reduce you to a puddle of mushiness and googly-goo words :) This is why they're our Breed of the Month! It has been accepted that the modern pugs are descendants of Pugs in China.Some of them were taken to Europe where they were quite popular in the aristocratic circles. When Pompey the Pug (in the House of Orange, Netherlands) alerted the Prince to the presence of assassins in his palace, he saved his life and this seemed to seal the deal for Pugs to retain their pampered place in society. The Pugs must have just loved this, they tend to be less active than other breeds and love to nap (who doesn't?) Pugs are built in such a way that they have compact breathing passageways, making them susceptible to breathing difficulties. Dogs bring down their body temperatures by panting, the evaporation from their outstretched tongues cools them, this is quite hard for Pugs.  So, one must be extra careful to make sure Pugs don't get too much ...

 She lets you snuggle in her bed at 3 am, she wakes up in time to make your breakfast, she makes sure your food cravings are met (often sacrificing the last biscuit) and she dotes on you day and night.  And looks after her human babies! That’s just a teeny-tiny bit of what moms do. We know motherhood is no walk in the park, being at PetStepin’ is almost like becoming a parent. You start worrying about who needs that extra feed and who needs extra exercise.  Is he pooping ok? Is his tummy upset? Is he bored? WHAT is he up to now?!  Who needs the vegetarian meals and who loves rolling around in the mud (you know who you are.) We’re happy to baby-sit your floppy-eared baby while you take the break you deserve(plus a big HUG)! Happy Mother’s Day to all of you from the PetStepin’ Family!

I don't know if this happens to anyone else but the first thing that pops into my head when someone says PetStepin' is Sandhya Satyamurthy!  Marching up and down, silencing any would-be mischief makers with that Sandhya dont-even-think-about-it look (at times, also used on her colleagues) her afternoon power-naps  on the mat with four (on an average) dogs and that unusually sweet voice she uses when she wants you to make her some tea :)   The craziest days are ones with Sandhya around and here's hoping for many more of those! The Mothers - Dino and Freddie's Mother, Sandhya's Mother and Indira's Mother :) Happy Work Anniversary Sandy! Take it easy and make Bharath do all the work :P
