When You Look Good, You Feel Good

As you all know we re-launched the Paw'lished (Grooming Spa) here at PetStepin' .

Here are the five grooming tips from Anoma Suresh (Certified Pet Stylist) which can help you groom your pets efficiently at your home because it is very important to know and understand how important it is to groom your pets.

It is very important to groom your pets regularly to keep their skin and coat healthy and keep them clean and happy.

Here are the grooming tips that can help you maintain your pets :

1) Always Brush Regularly : It's very important to brush your pets regularly to avoid matts or shedding. Regular brushing removes dead hair, helps in circulate natural oils for a clean and healthy coat and skin. Especially the breeds with the long coats should be brushed more often than the one with the short coats.

2) Choosing the right shampoo : First rule if you are grooming a pet, the right shampoo has to be chose according to the skin condition and texture of the fur. Absolutely no human shampoos, pets' coat and skin is different from that of a human. You can also different type of shampoos if your pet has a specific requirement like allergies or skin issues, tick & flea problems. If in doubt it is always advised to consult a professional groomer or your Vet.

3) Clipping of nails : It is highly advisable that you do not clip a pet's nail if you do not know how to do it. Always use the clippers that are well suited for your pet, like small pets guineas pigs, hamsters and cats u can use small clippers and for dogs a bigger clipper. And on the other hand if you are clipping your pet's nail, you need to pay attention to the blood veins as you don't end up bleeding your pet's nail. It's always advisable to do it under the supervision of an expertise to avoid accidental bleeds. Get it always done by a certified groomer or your vet.

4) Using the right equipment : If you are planning to groom your pet at your home not necessarily you will have all the equipments that the professional groomers have but you can buy the basic equipments that can help you in your in home groom.

There are 3 different types of brushes you can use for basic grooming in pets,

Bristle Brush: A bristle brush can be used for both short coats as well as long coats. This brush is used to remove finer dirt from your pet's coat.

Slicker Brush: If you have a long coat dog then this type of brush will help remove matted and tangled hair.

Rubber Brush: These are meant for short-haired dogs.

5) Ears and teeth matters too : Grooming is just not about the coat of the pet. Always check your pet's ears and teeth to makesure they are kept clean and healthy to avoid ear infections or foul smell and to avoid bad breath. Specially pets with floppy ears or pets that enjoy getting wet are the ones most prone to catch an infection.

You pet needs to be groomed every 2 weeks to a month to stay healthy and happy.
Also if you feel all these sound complicated, you can take your pet for a grooming spa at a pet salon or look for a home service at your convenient.

Operation 'Playtime Over 'Study'' is now in session! "  Simba, undeterred and fueled by Dr. Woofinton's wisdom, unleashed his first move—an impressive display of athleticism, including a perfectly executed somersault and a flawless frisbee catch.  Simba: " Witness the majestic acrobatics of Simba! Clearly, my destiny is to frolic, not 'study. ''  Human: (raising an eyebrow) " Nice tricks, Simba, but I...

Winter is coming !!!

Yes, the winter is coming, that needs to remind us of some chilling facts about the dangers that cold winter weather can pose for our pets! Double-coated dogs like Huskies or Saint Bernards are exceptions, but even thick coated dogs vary in how much cold they can withstand. It depends not only on the temperature, wetness, wind, how long they are in the cold, but how much food they’ve had to keep warm while they are out for their walks or playing outside. Other factors also affect how long your dog can stay out with you safely – including how much muscle, fat and fur your dog has protecting them, and how much energy they have to burn to keep themselves warm. Just like people, many young dogs enjoy playing, walking or running in the cold with us for hours. So how do you know how much cold is safe ...
